Vehicles - vans, mini buses, buses - coated with yellow paint plying in the city is common sight. What for yellow paint? It is to indicate to other motorists that the vehicle is carrying kids and students of Schools and other educational institutions and they should be very careful while negotiating such yellow painted vehicles. So far so good. This is common knowledge, why should rr write about some known facts? rr feels yellow is not the right colour for such buses, red is ideal. These vehicles traverse across the city in the nook and corners to pick up or drop children. On the strength of their knowledge that other vehicles would keep distance from them, the drivers of yellow painted vehicles drive so atrociously fast and carelessly that people on the road have to be alert so that they are not hurt. Yellow colour is not so easily distinguishable, red would be much better.

rr is reminded about the 'brake inspector' of yonder days in Pallavapuram and Veethividangan; yes, he is referring to the buffalo. If they stand on the road, they would not budge and easily move away allowing your vehicles to pass by, come what may, whether or not you honk your horn. Those days in either of these two villages nobody owned a motor car nor a two wheeler, once in a blue moon a Royal Enfield would peep in only to be surrounded by urchins. Jeeps may show up if it was election time, and that was not there till 1952.

rr has high regards for the buffalo and holds it in high esteem. It was because of Veethividangan buffalo that he learnt swimming and designated it as his Assistant coach, the Chief coach being his grandpa, you have read in English and AM. Why go thru' the insipid and worthless posts of rr when there are Wordsworth people to post!

To come back to the buffalo, if it is in high mood, it would gallop unmindful of the persons, materials or vehicles in its way. This was seen in Madras/Chennai city also in areas like Nanganallur, and perhaps even now in Triplicane. Honking horns of vehicles would go unheard by the buffaloe.

To come back to yellow painted vehicles, the drivers do not honk horns, may be they think no honk day is every day. Only the cleaner gives hand signal only to indicate that the vehicle is going to turn left which people going ahead cannot see. rr was witness to a near accident on 8th instant when a College bus nearly knocked down an elderly person, So rr feels such vehicles are much worse than buffaloes.

What about buses carrying IT service personnel? They are like Rhinoceros.

There was no intention to hurt the feelings of buffaloes and Rhinoceros.
